Livingstone exhibition

June 30, 2010

I was in Livingstone last weekend setting up an exhibition which will be at the Royal Livingstone hotel until the 7th of July. It will then move to the Zambezi Sun hotel until the 31st of July so if you are in town be sure to pop in and take a look.

It was full moon while I was down there so I took the opportunity to photograph Victoria Falls at night. The falls are still very full for this time of year which means that there is a huge amount of spray in the air – bad for camera gear but great for lunar rainbows. The lights in the photograph are on the Zimbabwean side.

Lodge Photography

June 30, 2010

A large amount of my time in the last month has been taken up photographing lodges – I photographed 9 different camps in the Valley including 2 of my favourites – Luwi bushcamp (Norman Carr Safaris) and Chindeni (The Bushcamp Company). It was quite frustrating to be stuck in the camps and hear reports coming in from the game-drives of incredible wildlife sightings! Here are a few shots from the thousands that I took on this trip.

Soaring with eagles!

June 30, 2010

It has been a very long time since my last post – the last couple months have been non-stop for me but finally I have some time to do a little blogging. I headed down to Wilderness in South Africa at the beginning of May to do a paragliding course. I have a very exciting project in the pipeline which involves lots of flying and photography – more details of this in the months to come. Here are a couple shots of my first few flights courtesy of my excellent instructor Jan at Cloudbase paragliding. It was a fabulous experience and I can’t wait to return.

End of the rains

April 15, 2010

The sky is clear and there is a definite chill in the air today which means the dry season is on its way – it always amazes me just how quickly the safari season comes around again each year. The rains are a quieter time for me in terms of actual photography and I spend an huge amount of my time sitting in front of a computer. I am really looking forward to getting back into the bush and behind the camera again..

Inspection..

January 8, 2010

I’m still in Lusaka and it looks like I will be here for at least another month before I can head back to the Luangwa Valley. I have been slowly plowing my way through all my images from this past year and this shot of a baboon mother grooming her baby came up in today’s files. Very cute!

Exhibition closes

December 20, 2009

It has been a very busy month for me but my exhibition has now come to an end and things are quietening down just in time for Christmas. The exhibition was a great success – it was titled ‘Living Luangwa’ and featured 50 of my favourite images from my last 4 years work in the Luangwa valley. Here are a few of the most popular photographs although seeing them at web size doesn’t do them justice – printed large, framed and lit well makes all the difference..
